Another year gone by; My do they fly!

Last night as we watched the setting sun and enjoyed our Manhattan cocktails, it had been a hectic five-day period with over 80 guests. We decided to make a mental list of some of the things for which we are grateful, no order of importance and no even thinking about the new year. It was just one of our cocktail chats. Here is some of what we came up with.

·      We are thankful that we have survived an incredible life during our thirty years together. We have had many escapades and risks from owning a Manhattan apartment, country houses, a Florida farm and boats. And now we are sitting in a wonderful farm in Mexico and are still financially sound.

·      Our health is good for our age

·      We have a wonderful circle of friends

·      We are happy with our pack of dogs and their unconditional love

·      We are far away from all the political craziness happening around the world.

·      We have a plan to phase out of our business and continue to enjoy our farm.

·      We are thankful to have a family in Mexico that has supported us for over 25 years.

·      We are equally thankful to be part of another family who will continue the dreams we started.

Tonight, as we enjoy another sunset and another Manhattan cocktail, we will be talking about our plans for the coming year and how we will make them happen.

In the meantime, January is upon us and here is what we are planning

Open House Wednesday Jan.8

For our frequent winter visitors that are not here during our normal production season, please join us for a day in the country experiencing our products and sampling our cuisine. All free of charge and complementary transportation from Liverpool. Reservation required.

Olive Fest Friday Jan. 17

From appetizers to dessert! A repeat of our annual fall festival highlighting our olives and cuisine related to it.

Wood Fired Comida Jan 23

For many months we have been developing and refining recipes in a homemade outdoor kitchen which is totally fired by wood. We are now ready for prime time.

Chinese New Year Jan. 29

Last February we came up with the idea of holding a Chinese New Year’s celebration. Fifteen brave souls showed up and our staff excelled in their cooking skills by creating a wonderful menu of Chinese cuisine. Not only was the event a success but it also resulted in our having a “sweet and sour” cooking class. So join us in celebrating the beginning of the year of the wood snake and celebrating New Years TWICE!

The following is an excerpt from NDTV

The horoscope for 2025 marks the beginning of the 'Year of the Wood Snake' in China, which signifies a time of transformation, growth and introspection. It will continue till February 16, 2026,

The last time 'Year of the Wood Snake' was celebrated was in 1965, according to Forbes.

The significance of the Wood Snake

The snake, the sixth animal in the Chinese zodiac, represents intuition, strategy and elegance. When paired with the Wood element, 2025 emphasizes adaptability, creativity and long-term planning.

Wood adds a layer of growth, resilience, and harmony to the snake's already intuitive nature, making this year ideal for personal and professional development.

We wish you a year full of happiness, health, prosperity, inspiration, and all kinds of fun and good stuff!

Finally, a big Thank You to all of you for your continued support, encouragement, and friendship.

Susan and Victor
